Jeonbuk Motors coach Choi Kang-Hee was delighted at snaring the K-League regular-season title at home after their draw with Daejeon Citizen.
The Jeonju-based club clinched top spot on the K-League and a place in the Championship play-off final thanks to the 0-0 draw on Saturday, as they sit six points clear of second-placed Pohang with one regular season game to play.
It was good to clinch the regular season title at home, Choi said after the goalless draw at Jeonju World Cup Stadium.
The 52-year-old, who has been in charge of Jeonbuk since 2005 and guided the club to the 2006 Asian Champions League (ACL) title and 2009 K-League crown, was not celebrating too much, eyeing off winning the play-off prize.
Now we prepare for the play-off series and the AFC Champions League, he said.
It was an interesting game and we had the chances to score early in the match but were not able to take them. The players tried hard and it has been a tough week so we are very happy.
Jeonbuk face Al Ittihad in the second leg of their Asian Champions League semi-final after winning the opening clash in Saudi Arabia 3-2.
Meanwhile, Pohang sealed second place and a free pass into the Championship semi-finals after their 1-1 draw with Chunnam Dragons.
Suwon Bluewings and FC Seoul have also qualified for the play-offs, while the final two spots are undecided with Ulsan Hyundai, Busan I Park, Gyeongnam FC, Chunnam Dragons and even ninth-placed Jeju United in the running.
