Market: Doncaster win
Odds: 4/5 @
Two sides who already find themselves scrapping it out at opposite ends of the League Two table, a high-flying Doncaster will travel to Harrogate on Thursday night.
Starting with the hosts, while some in Harrogate’s camp might have opened up the 2024/25 campaign with their sights set on mounting a genuine top-half charge this season, Simon Weaver’s men are at the heart of a real struggle. Last seen putting in another toothless display as they slumped to a 1-0 loss away at Cheltenham, the Yorkshire-based outfit have collected just a single victory from any of their opening five League Two appearances. Crashing out of the EFL Cup on August 27th following a woeful 5-0 drumming at home against Preston, Harrogate have also shown some glaring issues in the final third. In fact, Weaver’s downbeat squad have failed to find the net in any of their last three consecutive showdowns across all competitions. Facing what should be a real challenge when they return to Yorkshire in midweek, it should also be highlighted that Thursday’s hosts have lost all of their first three competitive matchups in front of their own supporters by an aggregate score of 8-0.
As for the visitors, while Doncaster might have suffered play-off heartbreak last season, the Rovers certainly haven’t shown any signs of a hangover. Flying out of the traps since opening up the new campaign, Grant McCann’s men find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Putting in another eye-catching performance last weekend as they secured a 1-0 victory at home against Gillingham, the former Peterborough boss finds his squad leading the chase at the top of the League Two table, Thursday’s guests have collected 12 points from their first five appearances this season. Likewise, winning five of their opening six showdowns against League Two opposition across all competitions, Doncaster should be smelling a potential opportunity this weekend. Last seen on their travels clinching an action-packed 3-2 win against Port Vale, McCann’s men are pencilled in as a standout contender here. Given what has been a huge recent gulf in class, we are backing an away victory here.
Bet: Doncaster 4/5 to beat Harrogate in Thursday s League Two matchup @
