data-mm-id=”_bsznpiww4″>Everyone has been saying the 2020 NFL Draft starts with the Lions' pick at No. 3. That's because the Bengals are widely expected to pick Heisman winner Joe Burrow No. 1 and the Redskins are projected to pick Ohio State All-American Chase Young at No. 2. Whether you believe it's true or a smokescreen, Ian Rapoport threw a wrench into that idea when he said the Redskins have started receiving calls from teams that want to trade up. If that happened, it would completely alter the draft as whoever moves up to No. 2 is presumably doing so in order to select their QB of the future. Or perhaps they see what everyone else does– that Young has the pedigree of a generational pass rusher. Either way, it would set off an avalanche of moves that would alter the NFL for years to come. Early fireworks? The #Redskins have begun to receive calls from teams interested in trading up to the No. 2 overall selection, sources say. They aren’t intent on moving out of the pick many believe will be #OSU DE Chase Young, but they are listening. Teams are laying groundwork.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 21, 2020Since their heyday in the 1990s, the Redskins have been among the most dysfunctional franchises in the NFL. Forget the fact that they've only made the playoffs four times in the last 20 years, and won only one playoff game in that span. Everything else they've done has seemingly been the worst decision possible, from their handling of player health (RGIII, Trent Williams), to horrible trades (Jason Cambell, RGIII) to bad free agent signings (Albert Haynesworth). Based on that history, perhaps they would do something crazy here and trade back in the draft to pick up a few extra picks, especially considering they don't have one in the second round this year. They have a need at offensive tackle with Trent Williams sitting out last season and continuing campaign to be traded this offseason, so trading back and getting one of the top guys in this deep offensive-line draft isn't completely unthinkable. But passing up the chance to pick Young is. The two most important positions in the NFL today, outside of quarterback, are pass rush and offensive line. Washington has a need at both positions. They can get an offensive lineman later in the draft. Or they can trade for one like Joe Thuney. They can't get a guy like Young through either method. The 6-foot-5, 260-pound prospect had 16.5 sacks and 21 tackles for loss at Ohio State last year alone. He has a rare combination of power and speed, and although he didn't shine in the Buckeyes' loss to Clemson in the College Football Playoff semifinals last season, he made two big leaps at Ohio State over the last two years with potential to still be realized. The Redskins were 10th in the NFL in sacks per game last year and Young could transform their defense into one of the elite units of the NFL, much the same way the 49ers improved in 2019 with the addition of Nick Bosa. The Redskins have been known to make boneheaded decisions in the past. If they did trade the No. 2 pick, it would alter the NFL Draft and leave teams scrambling to move up and get the player they want. But even they aren't crazy enough to pass on Young, a mistake that could torment them for a decade.

What follows are five bold predictions for the big game.Patrick Mahomes will be the story of the gameWe all know the Chiefs will rise or fall in the big game based on how Patrick Mahomes plays. If he's at his best, he's unstoppable and could even beat the 49ers' ridiculous defense. But if he gets rattled and plays poorly, the Chiefs will almost certainly go down. If the Chiefs win, everyone will rave about Mahomes and how he's the next all-time great. If they lose, the narrative will be that the 24-ye…
data-mm-id=”_o9mx2c7tt”>Patrick Mahomes just won his first Super Bowl at the age of 24. The same age as Tom Brady when he won his first. Mahomes is now just eight Super Bowl appearances behind Brady for the most all-time. Can he possibly catch him? Could Patrick Mahomes really play in a decade's worth of Super Bowls? No. Even if he is the greatest ever, no one will ever catch Brady in this category. Mahomes is more likely to play Major League Baseball than appear in 10 Super Bowls. Probably because there's a chance he plays in so many Super Bowls that he decides to play Major League Baseball. Here are some other reasons.Coaching Patrick Mahomes was lucky enough to fall to a good team in the draft and start his professional career with a Hall of Fame coach. Just like Tom Brady…

Nobody is very happy about it, but the group of people having the most difficult time dealing with this situation are involved with the Nebraska Cornhuskers football program. The NYC playground legend and current Dallas Mavericks' player development coach was able to jam so many tasty content nuggets into one article that I'm suddenly wondering who is working on his biography. You really must visit TPT to read the whole thing, but I'll just grab one little piece to share here in the interest of mixing sports and pop culture. This is about how Shammgod first got into basketball as a nine-year-old. When he moved to Harlem, all he wanted to do was fight because that's what kids did in Brooklyn, but like all players, he was introduced to the sport by someone. Unlike most people, he was introduced to basketball by Mase. “The first kid I …

The critical reception, including from The Big Stream, a lightly listened-to podcast, has been overwhelming positive as everyone tends to agree the stuck the landing even if they didn't try one last death-defying trick or twist. It was also, unsurprisingly, a success in the ratings department. More Articles About Succession:…

The Bills went up multiple scores early and did not let up as it seems everyone on the team worked to excise the demons lingering from their Week 1 meltdown loss to Zach Wilson. Things only got worse for Vegas when Jimmy Garoppolo targeted Davante Adams on a deep post route late in the fourth quarter and the All-Pro receiver got obliterated on a helmet-to-helmet hit. data-mm-id=”_9vl28umgq”>As the Cleveland Guardians get closer to clinching their second AL Central title in three years, closer Emmanuel Clase is inching toward MLB history. Clase, who leads the league in saves with 45, just needs to stay ahead of St. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley, who has 44 saves, and he'll accomplish something that not even Mariano Rivera did. If Clase holds the lead he has in saves, he'll lead the MLB in that category for the third straight year and would become the first closer to do so since saves became an official stat. That's not all. Through 68-and-a-third innings pitched, Clase has allowed only five earned runs, equating to an earned run average of 0.66. That would be the fourth-lowest single-season ERA for a pitcher with more than 50 in…
